Jinshanling Great Wall lodging/ town: Jinshan Hotel

We reached a small town on the foothills of the Gubeikou Great Wall. After almost 8 hrs of hiking, we managed to wobble out to the hotel for an overnight stay. It was pretty dark when we got to Jinshan hotel. Their accommodation is set up like individual homes instead of hotel style rooms. Our luck continues as we were able to snag better lodging than what they had originally planned for us.

Highlights: It was raining the next day morning. The misty, cool weather added mystery that made the small mountainous town a lot more fun to explore.
Cast of Characters: Mamu, Kih, Noemi, Mel & our local guide Peter
Logistics/ Links:
When: We went in August, 2010. Our guide Peter says its normally insanely hot & humid. We were lucky it was cloudy & drizzling when we went. Might be better in Spring or Fall.
Location: Jinshanling Great Wall, China
Cost: This was included in our trip cost with Panda Adventures. Found these guys that do it for cheap
Trip Report: Nice little place to stay overnight. Nothing much to do besides hiking the Wall though.

Our camp for the evening
Weird statue as we finally finished the Gubeikou section & made our way into town.
This is such a delicious restaurant. Or maybe it was because we haven't had a meal all day & we hiked 8 hrs...anyway, if you're in the area- do try them out. Forgot what they're called. You'll see em as you walk down the main road

Small town by Jinshanling Great Wall

It was a beautiful, misty morning on her 28th birthday...

There were very few people in this town, which is rare for China. The quiet was nice for a change. I think they do get the occasional tour buses though...

Mamu & Mel chilling out at the apartment suite in the hotel.

Super spacious bedrooms, ok bathrooms (with hot water), pretty good me thinks!

Well done ! These are great pictures of the Great Wall! Which reminds me… I should go through my India pictures and post some. I log on to your blog on a regular basis. Having read this I thought it was rather informative. I appreciate you finding the time and energy to put this article together. I once again find myself personally spending a significant amount of time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worth it!

In return, I also found a great blog of Jinshanling travel tips, I’d love to share it here with you and for future travelers.
