Serene Bamboo Raft River Float

Bamboo rafting at Yulong River in Yangshuo, Guilin. It was a very peaceful 1-2 hr raft ride. Don't be fooled by the picture below. The river has mini waterfalls, this was the first one. We were only freaked out a bit because you couldn't actually see how big the drop is until you're actually halfway through.

Highlights: Beautiful, peaceful scenery (if you go early enough)
Cast of Characters: Mamu, Mel & our local guide QinQin
Logistics/ Links: (I'll post when I find a good source)
When: We went in August, 2010. The weather was perfect!
Location: Yulong river, Yangshuo Guilin
Cost: This was included in our trip cost (see Made in China article)
Trip Report: We had a crazy busy day. Our guide picked us up at like 6am from our hotel. We got our bikes & headed out to the countryside. We did the river rafting first thing to avoid all the crowds. Afterwards, biked around the country a bit more. Went to Moon hill & the water cave, all that with our trusty bikes. Highly recommended itinerary.

Floating restaurant getting set up (around 7am). I heard 'rent' was pricey. I thought there were too many of them. I'm just grateful we were early enough that they weren't all out yet & that we were the only tourists. I was told the place just gets completely packed=not pretty.
Mamu & Mel chilling out.
Yangshuo is such a laid back town. Its slowly becoming more & more commercialized though. I hope it doesn't lose its charm along the way.

Beautiful landscape at Yulong River

I wanna live here!

Man on bridge. The reflection is a bit cut off. Oh well, another reason to come back
